5 Healhy Foods to Stop Sugar Cravings

That’s no surprise that sweet craving can lead to health problems. Excessive sugar consumption causes a rapid rise in blood glucose levels, and then its quick drop. Because of this, a person develops a strong sugar craving and as a result, there are metabolic disorders, diabetes, problems with the cardiovascular system, and obesity. You can break this dangerous vicious cycle, according to Dr. Deirdre Rawlings from Clayton College of Natural Health, USA, by means of a healthy diet.

The doctor recommends to eat 5 foods instead of sweets. They will help to eliminate sugar cravings:

1. Apples

Apples contain fructose and lots of useful fiber. Dietary fiber in apples gives a feeling of fullness, and the sweet taste helps to meet the need for sugar. They are also beneficial to your health.

2. Sweet Corn

Corn is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber, which can also help fight sugar cravings. Cooked corn is sweet and satisfies hunger well.

3. Sweet Potato

This vegetable not only satisfies sugar craving but also provides the body with vitamins C, D, B6, and iron. Nutrients contained in sweet potatoes can help prevent heart disease as well as many other diseases.

4. Cinnamon

Cinnamon’s unusual properties also help fight sugar cravings. It normalizes blood glucose level and prevents insulin splashes. Ideally it should be included to a daily diet.

5. Tomatoes

They have a lot of serotonin, and studies show that a low level of this hormone is a major cause for sugar cravings. Serotonin acts as a neurotransmitter, which tells the human brain that its sugar craving was satisfied. Tomatoes are also rich in chromium – the mineral, which reduces food cravings, regulates cholesterol, fat and glucose levels in the blood.

Make sure you include these foods to your diet, and you’ll forget your sugar cravings!
